What About all the Waste?

Gulf Coast Industrial Boom

Houston and the Gulf Coast is going through an industrial renaissance.  Billions of dollars is being poured into refinery and petrochemical projects along the Texas coast.  What is driving this boom?  The explosion of shale drilling in the Permian Basin in West Texas, as well as other parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, is providing low-cost feedstock for these industries.  Volumes are expected to continue to grow, with a number of upstream pipeline projects positioning to get their molecules to Gulf Coast demand centers as soon as possible.  Located near one of the largest port complexes in the U.S., the regional refining and petrochemical industries are set to benefit for many years to come.

How to Manage the Waste Increase

The question has to be asked, though – with all of this increased production, who is going to manage the increased waste streams?  Traditional hazardous waste management technologies, specifically, incineration, are limited in their ability to expand due to stronger environmental regulations.  In fact, the current fleet of incineration units in the area was built over thirty years ago and is quickly aging.  Greenleaf Flagship is an innovative solution to addressing this problem.  Our facility will target this inevitable growth of hazardous waste streams from the refinery and petrochemical industries, using an environmentally safe and efficient process.  Learn more about how Greenleaf plans to serve the environment, industry, and community here.
